Today’s post is all about the deep, abiding love we have for that smoky eyed, pouty-lipped flapper look. Sugar and spice is a perfect embodiment of the flapper style, and I absolutely adore modern variations on the dark eyes and red lips of the era. Like this photo: gorgeous green smokey eyes, just bitten lips, mussed hair, bold brows…. pale and dramatic and fabulous.

Absolutely gorgeous! Doe Deere walks you through the steps she took to achieve this look, including the greyish blue smoky eyes and these UNBELIEVABLY PERFECT lips.
Seriously. Literally perfect, right? Lighter, glossier than the matte theatrical flapper look. Wedding appropriate, even! Just lovely.
Speaking of wedding appropriate, I also absolutely love these two looks from Jean-Paul Gaultier’s Fall 2009 show. This first is a beautiful Louise Brooks homage. Wearable and elegant and simply gorgeous.
