Looking for 1920s wedding makeup inspiration? Pretty easy now, right? I love this brave new world of Pinterest and Tumblr and Google image search, and the ease with which you can find and collect the perfect images (back in MY day we had no such tools, young ladies! AND we had to walk ten miles to school in the snow! Harrumph.). And these days you can just stumble on a perfect image like this:
Love! One thing I do not love, however, is the fact that all this distribution and reblogging and repinning and reuploading means oftentimes the images float around with no credits attached, no source connected. Which is wrong! And which is why I try to track down the original source of anything we post. Like these (amazing, incredible, stunning, perfect) photos, which I found floating around in the Pinterest ether with no sources or info….
But I tracked them down! I found ’em. (I think.) Looks like they went up at WeddingBells, which is how I found the credits (Photography by Carlyle Routh. Styling by Vanessa Taylor. Makeup & hair by Michelle Rosen for TRESemme Hair Care/judyinc.com. Makeup & hair assistant: Earl Simpson for judyinc.com.) and info on the gowns and jewelry which you can find by clicking through to their original post. Gorgeous! Many thanks to the creators of these images, lovely 1920s makeup inspiration!
Usually I will pull and highlight one or two gowns from a designer’s collection, gowns that capture perfect art deco style, that evoke the 1920s without seeming costume-y… but Jenny Packham‘s 2012 Bridal Collection is so on-point, so gorgeous from start to finish, I’ve got to show you half of the dresses, because they are …
Love the architectural look of this Anne Barge gown, pictured here in a 2009 ad campaign. The chevron on the bodice really gives it a classic deco feel, like a dress inspired by the Chrysler Building (plus, bonus: pockets!).
Browsing through some art deco dresses yesterday I came across a brand I’d never heard of before, called Mignon. Some really lovely stuff! I think the reason I hadn’t seen these gowns before is that they are often marketed as formal/prom/dance dressess as opposed to wedding gowns, but some of them would be absolutely ideal …
Up today we thought we’d show you a few 1920s style wedding dresses we’ve stumbled upon over the last few months (actually some roaring ’20s and 1930s inspired dresses). First up we’ve got a couple of 1930s inspired wedding gowns, like this dreamy dress from Deco Weddings fave BHLDN: This is the “Breathless” dress, and it’s …
