Inspired by a locale, these Australian art deco invitations are stunning, unique and gorgeously personal. The wedding took place in Perth, on the banks of the Swan River, and the bride asked designer Helen Nowell to create a design incorporating features of Western Australia, included the Kangaroo Paw flower. I really adore these invites, and was so struck by not only their beauty, but also what a wonderful job they do of creating a sense of place, of celebrating the couple and the location. It’s a lovely combination.
The designer was kind enough to send along some of the sketches that led to the final pieces, and it’s really neat to see the works-in-progress alongside the gorgeous final results.
Some beautiful Art Nouveau elements worked in with the Art Deco, and the overall effect is really fantastic.
I love every element of these pieces, and encourage everyone to take a look at the details of this truly beautiful invitation suite! Kudos to designer Helen Nowell, congrats to bride and groom Suzanne and Edward, and many thanks for sharing these beautiful images with us.

It’s got that great ’20s style, and the whole invitation suite is lean, clean, elegant, and timeless. Thankfully “classic” doesn’t mean “boring” (at least not in this case): check out the super-cool envelope liners that match …
Cheerful blues and yellows brighten up this wedding invitation set from Coco Paperie at Minted. The circles bring in a little bit of a 60s / Mad Men vibe, but the font is pure deco. A great combo! The invite is available all by its lonesome, or with matching RSVP cards, information leaflets and more. …
Well today we’re going to browse some lovely vintage Christmas cards (1920s / 1930s inspired cards and invites) because the holiday season is in full swing (speaking of which: has everyone else been hearing Christmas music since directly after Halloween? NOT COOL.) But with Thanksgiving for my fellow Americans coming up shortly, and then the …
