One of the downsides to starting this site is that I am forever finding things I want to have. I want them for me. I want them now. I’m discovering things I didn’t even know existed and I want them. Like, say, dress clips. Dress clips? I didn’t know this was a thing, I would probably just have called them all “pins” or maybe “brooches” if I were feeling fancy.
But dress clips were all the rage in the 20s and 30s, and now I know I about them, and now I want some. Most particularly, this absolutely, kind-of-ridiculous-in-its beauty, perfect diamond and aquamarine specimen (described as a “brooch/dress clip” so maybe I wasn’t so wrong).

ARE YOU KIDDING? Incredible. And luckily for me (and anyone else smitten with this style), there appear to be lots of not-so-pricey vintage dress clips still floating around out there, usually with glass or rhinestones, but still vintage, and still beautiful!
I think these would make an incredible addition to a wedding dress, shrug or vintage rehearsal dinner dress. Many of them are being repurposed as pendants, and they look amazing that way as well. Here are some more (and more reasonably priced) finds:
I love it! Bold and beautiful. The color is incredible. If one of you doesn’t buy it, I just might…
And, as always, Etsy is a treasure trove. You have to dig though a lot of junk to find the treasures, but they are there… (click the image to go the listing):
How gorgeous are these art deco headbands, vintage style hairpieces and accessories from designer Johanna Johnson? I love how they’re unmistakably vintage-inspired, but there’s nothing fussy about them. They’d pair so beautifully with 1920s style gowns, of course, but I’m hard-pressed to think of a bridal look they wouldn’t complement. Welcome to LovelyTown. (click the …
Well, the trailer for Baz Luhrmann’s long-awaited (or long-dreaded, depending on your tastes…) version of The Great Gatsby is here! That is… well, it is interesting. Interestingly scored, interestingly cast… there will certainly be lots to look at, style-wise. The Great Gatsby is a perennial favorite for vintage-wedding inspiration, and there is certainly a lot …
If you’ve been ever been in a costume store, or seen someone dressed at a party as a “flapper”, you know that the modern perception of “flapper style” often includes two things: pearls and feathers. In fact, both were indeed popular accents/accessories in the 20s and would go well in any vintage themed wedding or …
Not all of us are blessed with a treasure trove of beautiful heirloom jewelry, passed down to us from our fabulously wealthy and stylish great-grandmothers. Not everyone can just reach into their closet and pull out the perfect true vintage art deco brooch, or flapper pearls to make the outfit sing. What’s a vintage-loving girl …
