Today we’re going to talk about finding that perfect vintage style wedding dress on a budget. Unless you are some variety of many-multi-millionaire (and if so: CONGRATS!), figuring out where to splurge and where to tighten your wedding-budget-belt is a constant dance. It’s also very personal, with a lot of individual factors weighing in (total budget, location, personal preferences, etc). The wedding dress alone can be thousands of dollars (many thousands, even. Many MANY thousands. You can spend a lot.)
So when it comes to the wedding gown, there are all kinds of ways to bring down the cost of that particular line item: renting, buying pre-owned, buying from one of those knock-off sites all over the web…actually, no, definitely DON’T DO THAT last one… Exhibit A:
OK so renting, buying pre-owned, and one option we’ve talked about here before: wearing a “formal” gown not necessarily marketed as a “wedding” gown. There are deals to be had on dresses that are simply lovely, elegant and will look gorgeous in photos but aren’t billed as “wedding gowns”.
We’ve featured some before, from designers like Mignon and outlets like Modcloth; today we’re going to take a look at a few neutral, white and ivory vintage style dresses from formal-wear favorites Terani, Adrianna Papell and MacDuggal that could make fabulous wedding gowns. They range in price from just under $300, up to about $700. Click the images below for details and pricing!
Also be sure to check out our curated collection of vintage inspired wedding gowns in the shop section: we’re always updating with a selection of 1910s-1950s styled gowns at various price points, all available online.

Oh la la! Take a look at these lovelies: vintage inspired wedding gowns from designer Elizabeth Fillmore. First up, the perfectly-named “Starlet” dress. It feels a little 20s (the art deco crisscross of the bodice), a bit 30s (the draped silk charmeuse and and swoopy train) and a smidge 40s (hello, film noir glamour!) and …
It’s impossible to understand why on Earth we haven’t done a post featuring one of our favorite art deco-inspired wedding dress designers, Alice Temperley and Temperley London, but it seems that we have not. But it’s always wow all around when we spot an art deco Temperley London gown… (image via Brides.com) So how could …
