Lucky June babies get their pick of beautiful birthstones, from luminous pearls to our previously featured art deco moonstone beauties. But today we’re going to spotlight the show-stopping loveliness of some art deco alexandrite jewelry. Alexandrite is a form of chrysoberyl, with a unique property: it changes color (or at least appears to) depending on the type and quality of the ambient light around it.

 

Sometimes called “emerald by day, ruby by night,” this rare and beautiful gemstone flashes shades of red and green. Besides being one of the three June birthstones, it’s also the traditional stone of the 55th anniversary. Check out some of our favorite pieces of art deco alexandrite jewelry below!
